Support Pharmacy Sale of Syringes in New Jersey Thanks to you New Jersey legislative leaders and Governor Corzine relieved more than 60 faxes each urging them to pass legislation allowing for non-prescription sale of syringes in pharmacies.  We are continuing this campaign and will continue to let you know how you can help support this critically needed initiative.

Support Patients in Alabama by Supporting HB 206 Thank you for taking action. HB 206 was assigned to a Judiciary sub-committee where it had a very successful hearing. The House Judiciary Committee decided not to vote on the bill, however, and it died without further action. We’ll be back in 2008 with another effort for Compassionate Care, and we’ll need your help to win!

Thank NJ Legislators for Syringe Access Win We won! Your faxes helped us get sterile syringe access legislation passed in New Jersey. On Dec. 18th, Governor Jon Corzine signed the Blood-born Pathogen Harm Reduction Act that will allow up to six municipalities to establish syringe access programs. Thank you for your steadfast support over the four years it took to get this legislation passed. Together we can make a difference!

Save Lives Now Working with DPA, U.S. Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) introduced groundbreaking legislation in 2006 to provide cities, states, tribal governments and community-based organizations with grants to help reduce drug overdoses. This legislation didn't go anywhere in the Republican Congress. We're currently working to get a new version of the bill introduced.

Don't Let Congress Poison People! Thousands of DPA supporters faxed Congress in opposition to testing a dangerous mycoherbicide in Colombia or Afghanistan as part of a radical crop eradication program. Congress felt the pressure and limited research to U.S. laboratories instead of using the Colombian or Afghan people as guinea pigs.
